The Journey of Howzat Fantasy

Ojas Vipat and Abhishek Kumar were the two representatives from Junglee Games – one of the most reputed gaming brands in India. They already have some successful gaming products such as Junglee Teenpatti, Eatme, Junglee Rummy to name a few. They were specifically looking for partners who had as in-depth experience of industry as themselves. They chose Vinfotech for a lasting partnership and for building Howzat Fantasy – a fantasy sports platform based on Indian Premier League (IPL) and FIFA cup.

Junglee Games’ big question:

Is a platform based IPL-focused cricket and FIFA football a good idea?

Team Vinfotech wasn’t doing fantasy cricket or football for the first time. We had a solid framework of fantasy sports that we knew would help us achieve the goal within the stipulated timeframe. When Junglee Games team had approached us, they knew quality was a given. We gave them the confidence that we can easily create a dual-sport category platform that would easily attract users.

Client's challenges & our solutions

  • IPL has already started. Can we attract users on a brand new fantasy cricket platform?

  • We can easily build the website quickly and help you get initial set of users. It’s never too late for us.

  • We want to ensure that users keep returning on this platform, not just for IPL but all year round. We also want to build fantasy football on the same website.

  • We can create the thrill and excitement through features in a way that users will find it addictive to play cricket and football all year round on this platform.

  • We want a platform that would be easy to play.

  • We would do traditional fantasy sports app development around IPL& FIFA world cup that would be easy to adapt and play.

I want a platform where I can increase my knowledge of IPL and FIFA.

What did we do?

Team Vinfotech aimed at building a balanced platform where beginners could also compete with professional fantasy cricket players as well as football players.

Market Research

Being Indians, our team used its passion for cricket along with our in-depth understanding of Indian fantasy cricket market as well as fantasy football market.

Engaging with users

We created user profiles from various groups of Indian cricket players. We asked team members to volunteer to share their needs and challenges of playing fantasy cricket. This helped us create a very relatable fantasy cricket platform.

Business assessment document

We created an internal document toconsolidate our findings about users and cricket and accommodate the vision of the web application.

Creative workshop with client

We met Junglee Games Team several times, exchanging ideas and our understanding about the evolving fantasy sports fans in India. This brought about a lot of clarity of vision and we soon we were on the same page.

Howzat Fantasy was focused on Indian fantasy games players and since we have built several platforms for this demographic, we quickly created wireframes. We got the feedback soon enough to get us started faster.

UI design

As always we kept in mind the principles of design thinking while creating user interface

Front-end development

Our fantasy sports framework helped us to speed-up the development of Howzat Fantasy. We did quality analysis for user experience along with working on various aspects of the fantasy cricket website.

We gave our developers feedback of some initial Indian users who had tested the fantasy sports application at a very early stage. This helped us correct anomalies for the last stage.

We launched the beta version within two weeks and the final version the week after.
