The client, Vidya Vyas approached us with the idea of developing Collegespeaks.com - a social networking website design project to help students give and get a real feel of a college campus. The idea was to provide colleges and students a common online platform which was both informative and fun using..

The website would serve as the place to get the students take on a college as well as view the college's mini-site to get an all-round view of the college. This would help students who were planning to join a college get to know about it, before they got there.

Based on our experience in developing social networking websites, we took on the project and added many enhancements in order to make Collegespeaks, the top reference website for the College-Student community. The project aims at being the best nationwide website in terms of popularity and credibility, for both, colleges as well as students.

Colleges register and maintain their own websites for a nominal subscription within the Collegespeaks site in order to reach out to a large number of student users on site. Colleges can add courses, facilities, photographs, admission and placement information, news, documents and forms for download and other sections to their websites on Collegespeaks.

Students register for free and make themselves part of their college campus. They can then grade their college, share thoughts by posting quotes and basically drive the content on the website. The site is beneficial for the student community, especially those who are short listing colleges to apply to as they can get an insight of the campus life - the students take on various aspects of colleges, and the college's mini-site to give details like facilities, staff and teaching methods offered. They can also search for colleges and contact students and alumni through on-site mailing and get answers to their questions.

The team at Viscus Infotech has designed a Web 2.0 website and developed it in Microsoft ASP.NET 2.0, using Microsoft’s AJAX framework for an enhanced user experience.

The website aims to help build a great community of students and colleges across India, enabling students to share their campus experiences, voice their opinions and in turn help applicants get the real feel of campus life. New modules are in development and are being released every few days. Top
