The team at Vinfotech has Web 2.0 experts in various fields ranging from Blogging, Map Applications, User Generated Content etc. In an effort to ensure maximum Interaction, the decision was made to base all the company’s Web 2.0 expertise and knowledge on a portal where the team could pen articles and clear smokescreen around various Web 2.0 buzzwords.
Blogging was the best choice to gain visibility and also reach out to customers and help them make informed decisions related to Web 2.0 Design Best Practices & New Website Trends. Initially we thought of going ahead with a WordPress or a Movable Type Blog platform to host the blogs but in the planning phase it was realized that looking at the heavy customization need of the blog it was better to write something from scratch.
The Web 2.0 Design team at Vinfotech immediately got into action and created a blog template quite similar to Vinfotech’s corporate website and the Web 2.0 programming team programmed the entire website to perfection using standard blog techniques like Tagging, URL Rewriting, Archiving etc. It took our team of one designer and 2 developers almost 2 months to write the entire application in ASP.NET 2.0 with MS-SQL 2005 as the database.
A very powerful admin interface was also designed which would tell us where are the visitors coming from, who is posting comments and making very easy to post new blogs or update existing ones.
We are very happy that we decided to go ahead with our Custom Written Blog tool as this has given the company an excellent platform to interact with our potential customers and at the same time given us complete control over the overall structure.
