Why and How you need to Redesign your Website for 2014

The first quarter of 2014 has been a gallery of change across the web giants. While Twitter and Facebook redesigned their interfaces to focus more towards Visual Content, Google realigned its algorithms to root out the blatant buzzword insertion and help readers access a more well articulated bank of content, created by genuine creators and producers.

While Twitter and Facebook redesigned their interfaces to focus more towards Visual Content, Google realigned its algorithms to root out the blatant buzzword insertion and help readers access a more well articulated bank of content, created by genuine creators and producers.

Closer home, the winds of change touch door. At Vinfotech, we’ve been realigning our website to suit better the needs of our clients, current and future, such as you. Why and how we are doing that is something that we’ll now elaborate upon.

Why do you need a Website Redesign in 2014?

The answer to that question can be different for every startup and every enterprise, depending on who they are. For us, we need and want a website redesign for a very simple reason. Clarity. For us, nothing is more important that communicating our abilities to a client. Establishing trust is an equally important initiative for any startup and any enterprise. And this is where you need to ask the question too. Are you establishing trust?
It is critical to sound simple, honest and forthcoming to your readers. Readers are great connoisseurs of content but they are also great at ignoring those who don’t give the reader what he wants.

How to Redesign your Website for 2014?

Your website redesign, both in visual and textual content, needs to be forthcoming. Regardless of your service, as we quoted in our blog about UX, the reader cares about their problem, not your solution.

So a few questions that might help you understand whether you need the Website Redesign might go as follows:

  • Are you communicating clearly with your user?
  • Is the information valuable to the user visible readily on your website?
  • Will the reader be able to find the information they are looking for without too much efforts?
  • Is your website making the user work or encouraging them to explore? (This is an important one and there is a big difference between the two. How? You’ll see in our blog in near future.)

A few tips which you might need to remember when you answer these questions:

  • Redesign is much more than how you look, its about how you present yourself to the user.
  • Color, fonts, spaces, boxes, symmetry is all fine. But simplicity is the key to it all.
  • Redesign for better orientation, rather than blatant makeover.
  • While acquiring a new look is certainly an exciting temptation, don’t lose or completely change the visual narrative of your website. Users hate big changes. They love small changes.

A much better idea of any website redesign for any startup is to understand that as time goes by, your user base matures. Their impression towards you changes too. From a lively startup, you may go to being a reliable solution to a problem they face. Or you might end up being forgotten.
Either way, a website redesign is on the cards. Change is the only constant. So change, but for better. To be better. Realign your ideas with the needs of the users.

At Vinfotech, we’re going to introduce similar changes very soon. As you read this, our able designers and developers are working on ingenious solutions not just for our own website, but for clients spread across the world. But here’s the most important part of the Web Design as a whole field.
Don’t design or redesign because its 2014. Don’t redesign because its the trend. Don’t even redesign because you need. Design and Redesign and Refine because the user needs it. Redesign for your user, not for your website. Your website serves the user. Not the other way around.
