Dressing in style is an integral part of life in the current era! This very idea was capitalized upon and developed into a wonderful website by the Vinfotech team in the recent past. CBuy.tv revolves around celebrities and the fashion statements they make. Vinfotech was awarded the project by CBuy Inc. and commissioned to plan, wireframe, design and develop the website.

The concept of CBuy.tv is a simple one – you can go through a wide list of celebrity pictures and buy exactly what your favorite celebrity is wearing. From rings to shoes, you can find all kinds of accessories and apparels tagged in the pictures. You can then click on the product you like and get to online shops that are selling those products. This way, users can buy apparel, shoes and accessories worn by their favorite celebrities.

The website is built in .Net and handles a huge database of photos. Browsing various celebrity pictures is easy with carousal based image handling and lazy load. To offer better user experience, the developers made sure that the website is very simple to use. You do not have to go through the tedious task of moving from tabs to tabs and ending up on the wrong page all over again. The slider on the homepage allows you to start browsing right away and check out the pictures without changing pages.

The Photographer and The Stylist

The pictures that you find on the website are mostly stills from TV episodes. The rest of the pictures are simply paparazzi photos clicked in public. CBuy has its own panel of stylists who identify the products that can be tagged in these pictures. The stylists handpick related products to serve different price points and tastes. Products are always contextually associated with the TV scene or paparazzi photo. The website's focus on real time delivery of products seen on TV, coupled with its engaging and fun user experience, sets it distinctly apart from other websites in the same niche.

Cbuy also collaborates with different companies to add more pictures to their databases. CBuy provides product identification data through web services, which provide a base for contextual advertising by providers, such as Hulu, Netflix, and Google TV.

Designed and Developed by Vinfotech

The designers worked closely with the client to create the user interface. Their vision was given fantastic HTML fruitition by the HTML developers who employed HTML5, CSS3, jQuery and Javascripts for the same. 'The HTML slicing was done in a month, which in itself was an achievement,' said the head of the front-end development team at Vinfotech. jQuery animations coupled with bringing in both grid views and straight views of photos were time consuming tasks that were handled very efficiently by the HTML development team and the website uses a fluid layout.

In the next phase, the development team worked alongside the client's vision to arrive at the desired results as per the modules and deliverables they had agreed on. This is one of the rare websites where the admin section was also designed. 'The admin section looks like a totally different website,' remarked the project manager in charge of the product. The development team programmed the admin section to make extracting details very easy from shopstyle.com using an API.

The website having gone live in December 2012 has won accolades around the web and is enjoying a high customer retention. The uniqueness of the website lies in its simplicity!
